Homeowners, Hotels, Motels, or Condominiums who rent their home for less than 30 consecutive days are subject to the District’s 7% occupancy tax as well as the State of Texas 6% occupancy tax. The District’s tax is payable to the Jasper County Treasurer. You can contact Rene Kelly Ellis at (409) 384-1013 to set up your account. This tax was authorized when the Jasper County Commissioners Court created the Jasper County Development District #1 in 2005. The tax is a method to fund tourism in the area as well as to support the Umphrey Family Pavilion. As a courtesy we have provided the County Tax Form on our District Form Page.
